Our lovely Sujin has participated in the exhibition called 'People and Portraiture' of Oxford House in Bethnal Green. She exhibited her work among 57 new artists!!

Waterstone's Picture This

Elys Dolan has been shorlisted as one of the final six for the Waterstone's Picture this !! A competition to illustrate a version of Beauty and the Beast written by Michael Morpurgo. Congrats Elys!!! :)

We could finally see the cover of the new Egmont catalogue in Bologna!! so pretty! Susanna Moores illustrated it!  

"The illustration features a bunny family who have invited a squirrel, hedgehog and two voles along for their family read in the hazy long summer grass. On the back the characters are snuggled up in thier burrow surrounded by winter snow. This is the second cover I have illustrated for Egmonts catalogue series. "

MacMillan Prize!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! 
Gemma Merino has won the 1st Prize of the MacMillan Prize and Elys Dolan the 2nd Prize!! Gemma is in her final year of part-time study, and Elys graduated in January.
Congratulations as well to Harriet Muncaster, Caroline Tye, Vanya Nastanliyeva, Jemima Sharpe and Antoaneta Ouzounova, whose have been selected with Highly Commended!!

The exhibition of winners and highly commended entries will be at Foyles Gallery (in the third floor of the bookshop), Charing Cross Road (London). From the 23rd till the 27th of May. You can't miss it!

"I completly fell in love with this bed when I saw it. The whole structure is covered with rich blood red velvet and was displayed at the V&A in very subdued lighting which added to the drama. Origionally created for Melville house in Fyfe c1700 it was comissined by George Melville. This is a very rare state bed which was largly unused and was made in such an opulent way to attract visiting royalty to stay with the Melville family."

Inspired by my recent trip to London and my visit to the Tudor family room in the National Portrait gallery... Elizabeth I's coronation portrait is breathtaking!

I used wax crayons and a Stabilo 'Woody' pencil for this, hope to experiment more with them in the next few days...I like the soft, feathered effect.

Go Nuts!

I am so glad so many people have had some results from the show, makes it all worthwhile.
